My 1st and Only Valentine

I never thought I could meet my love. He lived far away and we were both making travel difficult. I was a college student and he was managing a fast food restaurant at 19! We had already known each other through the technology of the internet and telephone for what seemed like an eternity. Vowing we were close friends who felt love for each other.

We did discuss how awesome it would be to meet and date. About a week later when we were talking my romantic friend asked, "will you be my valentine?" I told him "Of course!" I was ecstatic because I had never had anyone on Valentine's day. He told me that he was excited to be my first. Little did I know how much motivation that gave him.

On February 11, 2003 he told me that he would be driving almost 8 hours to come meet me at my college. He planned to do this for the "weekend" time off of work he received for Valentine's day. So not only did I have my first Valentine, but now I had the chance to spend my first Valentine's day with someone.

At his arrival I was blown away; I couldn't help but bounce off the walls all night. I was shocked someone could put so much effort into making my day. Every moment with him flew by and before I knew it our Valentine's weekend was over. What I did not know is that my first valentine would be my only, because I had met my soul mate.

It has been seven years and I did not spend every Valentine's day with my love. however, I have been madly in love with him for the entire time. He has a spirit of passion and a sense of humor to light my darkest days. I believe that Valentines day will always be a special holiday for us since it brought us together. We will celebrate our anniversary for February 12, 2003 because that is the day we met. Hopefully our Valentine's bond will continue to marriage, as things are 7 times more beautiful today in 2010. It seems each year Saint Valentine blesses us with more opportunity to expand our love.
